Classical subtypes - Rosacea diathesis

This is an episodic erythema on the central areas of the face. In some cases, it may also occur on the V-shaped area of the chest and the neck. These individuals are predisposed to flushing in a number of situations such as heat, cold, ultraviolet light radiation, intake of hot drinks, spicy food and alcoholic beverages and emotional stress. One day, flushing and blushing may lead to a persistent erythema.
Differential diagnoses to consider are carcinoid syndrome, allergic contact dermatitis, angioedema, mastocytosis, lupus erythematosus.
